Field Day
THIS SATURDAY, May 8th
Because of the late start to the school year in August, we must make up a school day on Saturday, May 8th. We will have a half day of “school” which basically will be our annual Field Day. All children should be at school no later than 8:25 am. Children may wear their play clothes but make sure your children wear some kind of athletic, running, or tennis shoes, NO SANDALS (this is a safety matter). At 8:25, the teachers will take attendance then divide the children into teams by color of ribbons. Grades 4-8 will go to Sylvania Park for their activities while Pre-K through 3rd will stay on our grounds. There will be lots of fun and competition. We need parents to help with drinks (help--we need water) and at the game stations. The Dad’s Club will grill hot dogs for lunch & we will include chips, a cookie and drinks. Children may leave with their parents after lunch. All other children must be picked up no later than noon either in the front (last names A-L); or in the back by the gym (last names M-Z). Please do not be late because the teachers and staff have other commitments and no one is available to take care of any children after dismissal.
If you know that your children will not be coming to Field Day, let the office know by Friday. This will help with food preparation.

School Begins at 7:55 am Some parents have the erroneous impression that they can pull up in front of the school at 7:59 am and their children will not be late. The children need more than 1 minute to get to their classrooms but, as is stated in the handbook, school begins with the bell at 7:55 am. It is mostly the same children who are always coming in late and disturbing their classes
Yearbook The Yearbook this year should really be great. This is thanks to Donna Rich and Jeff Wooten who worked all year to make it happen. The cost will still only be $15 thanks to a successful Breakfast with Santa in December. We are only printing 80 copies so get your order in immediately. We still need pictures of events here at school. If you have any, may we borrow them or send them to the school e-mail address if they are digital: stgeorgeschool@ocharter.net

BOX TOP FEVER It’s not too late! Don’t forget to turn in your box tops! The last day to turn in box tops is Wednesday, May 12th at 8 am. The parties for the three winning classes will be held on Wednesday, May 19th.
Parents, do not bring them late. Plan on getting to school at 7:45 am, then they have time to put away their backpacks and get ready for the day. Be on time this month!
