Dr. Olga Ferris, Principal
Dear Alumni and friends,
For those of you who do not know me, I am Dr. Olga Ferris, principal and alumnus of St. George School. Yes, that’s my class picture!
There have been a lot of changes at St. George over the years, the most recent being the groundbreaking and building-in-progress of our very own gymnasium.
We thought it would be a great idea to catch up with our former St. George classmates and fill them in on not only the happenings of your elmentary / middle school alumni, but am hoping this will be an opportunity for childhood schoolmates to get in touch with eachother with an alumni mass and dinner May 30th of this year. Please read on for details! Hope to see you there!

St. George Casino Night

This year our annual Riverboat Casino night will be held on Saturday, March 28, at Nolan High School’s Gym from 6:30 to 11 pm. A special treat this year will be entertainment by one of our “own,” Vincent Martinez. Vincent graduated from St George, went on to Carter and on to college before beginning his entertainment career. He is now well known around the country for his melodic voice (like Harry Connick) and pleasant personality.
We hope alumni and friends come to socialize and have a good time at this year’s casino night. Tickets are $30 each and include dinner, drinks, casino chips and access to all activities and fun. Call the school for more information or just send your ticket money and we will keep your tickets at the Will Call desk.

St. George Breaks Ground & Gets Face Lift

St. George had a ground breaking ceremony on May 15, 2008 and now there’s a lot of activity going on here on campus. The bulldozers have cleared the two lots that we will be using for our new gym, library/technology center and art/science lab. There is no slab yet but we have hopes that it will come soon. We are told that the building will be up and running by August 1 but we think it may be more like October 15.
Who knows?
The look of the school’s building has also changed. In 2002 the old cafeteria became no longer usable, so, through a grant from the Diocese, that space was converted into two classrooms with a lovely wide hallway between. The parish hall kitchen received an update and is now our cafeteria. In the summer of 2007 the entire building was painted—this time in yellows and greens. Sound gaudy? No way! It looks great; bright and cheerful. Our own Sister Theresa watches over a lovely group of plants which add to the flavor of the center hallway along with pictures of the school children.

Alumni and Friends
Sister Charlotte, one of the founders of St. George, passed away in 2008. She was young and friendly with an angelic voice when she came to St George in 1952. The other founding sister, Sister Raphael, died many years ago as did the original pastors Father Alphons Bach and Monsignor
Donald Hartnett.
