What’s Going on at SGS today?
 Sally Tran, one of our 8th graders, won the area spelling bee recently. She will compete in the regional bee soon, and, then, Washington. We wish Sally well!
 The 6th, 7th , and 8th graders will be presenting at their own “Coffee House” on April 30 in the parish hall. They will perform numbers like “Move Over Shakespeare” and “Vinny Van Gogh”. There will be art, drama, music and a lot of fun.
 For Lent, the children are trying to do service for others by bringing in food for the poor, visiting the sick, doing art work for the infirm.
 Recent field trips include: the King “Tut” exhibit and the Sixth Floor Museum both in Dallas; the downtown public library.
 The second graders hatched their own chick who has taken over the class and literally “rules the roost.”
 Through a grant from a donor, the school has been able to implement a tremendous after school tutoring program. Teachers are doing the work and a group of 25 children in grades 2 to 5 are participating. The materials
purchased with the grant will be used for years to come for all of the children.
 The 8th grade class of 2008 left the school a lovely xeriscape garden in the front of the school. No water is
needed since the plants are native to the area and will survive the hot Texas summers. The two Bradford pear
trees that were in front of the school became victims of two different storms but the class of 2007 planted a
couple of crape myrtles. Our own garden club also planted flowers here and there to contribute to the beauty of
the outdoors.

First Annual Alumni and Friends Dinner Mark your calendars for Saturday evening, May 30. We will gather in the church for 5:30 Mass then go to the parish hall for the dinner. We hope that this will become a real “homecoming” for all of our friends and former students. There will be door prizes, speeches (yawn), awards and fun. The newly established Young Alumni Club (those in high school and college) are organizing this event and hope to get as many people as possible to come. Tickets will be available soon for $20. Call and we will send you yours in early May. Spouses are welcome but no children under 16.
